Post spring break TV catch up…and holy-cow-it-must-almost-be-season-finale-time…KE

Europe was fabulous…as I knew it would be. Rome, South of France, Paris. Not a shabby life style. Now back to reality and teaching the young ones for another 2 and half months before returning home- FOR GOOD. And of course I had to play TV catch up since my return. So here are my thoughts... I don't think there are spoilers because you too are already caught up.

First I had to watch HIMYM. Let’s not even talk about it… it was a little disappointing…although there were some parts I enjoyed. But more than anything I think I’m just sad that it’s over. I could have watched Lily and Marshall for about 10 more seasons.

Then I had a little spontaneous Glee catch up… last I had watched was just after the start of LAST season and they were trying to make New York and Lima work. Now I see they have quit trying to make New York and Lima work and decided to move everything to New York. I did a little internet reading…watched a few musical numbers and then watched the saying good bye to the Glee Club in Lima (double episode). I couldn’t watch the Quarterback episode… I just watched a few of the musical numbers and was already like:

But them saying good-bye to Glee Club Lima and Puck and Quinn ending up together that is a good enough ending for me.

Just this last weekend I watched Once Upon a Time episodes. Very sad…with (SPOILERS) Bay dying and everything. There was more:
And I love that despite everything…. Captain Hook is still hanging out lookin’ like a pirate. It’s just so fitting.

Let’s talk Captain America/Shield…. First off for those of that didn’t know… the first Hydra episode of Shield should have come with a warning about having to see Captain America first… but then I guess I would have known what was going to happen in the Shield episodes. Your review is pretty much right on… and as you mentioned to me when we talked- where is Hawkeye in all this? I’m assuming he has some sort of secret mission that he is completing and an explanation well be given later (by which I mean in the next Avenger movie.) Banner and Stark are easier to excuse away… but Hawkeye?

I’m a little mad about agent Ward…

Although it has given him a little more depth. But even if he does decide to save Skye… she’s NEVER going to forgive him… and he doesn't act like he’d rather be helping the good guys… he seems to be right where he wants to be.  It’s all around not going to end well and there was lots of drama. And we’ll be tuned in for every second.

So after Captain America and the latest Shield, it was time for …Orphan Black!!!! Let’s just say it wasn't really a low-tension afternoon.

Seriously the best show on television.  I feel like this show is just getting started. So many roads to travel down and questions unanswered. LOVE IT.

That’s really all the highlights now… Parks and Rec- Leslie and Ben have triplets? A little strange… but love that show…

OH I almost forgot… the Blacklist! That is getting a little...intense. So now Lizzie knows the truth about her husband and the player is getting played… except you get this creepy feeling that maybe he knows that she knows but isn't going to let her know.

Something tells me the finale is going to be big time.  My hope is that husband dies… the partner guy that I didn't really like before has totally grown on me.

Okay…I know there's more... but that's my catch up for now.

Sarah has returned from Neverland with a mysterious injury. Her ankle is injured and she she has been sidelined from her adventures for the time being. She won't say exactly what happened but keeps muttering about "filthy pixies".

My 12 Role Models....KE

I love the Seahawk list! Finally Seattle is getting a team that is getting noticed…it’s been a while! Although, now I am even more sad that the timing of the playoff games suck so bad for my viewing pleasure. I have to either get up REALLY early or stay up REALLY late on a school night! When mom and dad come to Abu Dhabi it will be Super Bowl time and if the Hawks make it that far, I’m not what we are going to do then. We’ll have to find a solution to that.

Blacklist- So you’re totally convinced he is her father. I mean it seems to make the most sense… but I guess I’m waiting for some sort of twist. And Agent Ressler is totally in love with her… and I like him a bit better… but he’ll have to stay that way. He did piss me off a few times.

Let’s talk about the other Buzzfeed list- the 12 intelligent TV woman who should be your role models http://www.buzzfeed.com/h2/fbsp/intelligence/12-tv-heroines-who-should-be-your-role-model.
I think the fact that I don’t watch many of those shows makes me disagree with some of their choices and perhaps the retro aspect. I loved your add ins (Sydney Bristow, Kate Beckett, Dana Scully, Olivia Pope, Olivia Dunham, Claire Huxtable, CJ Craig). I think what I would want/suggest would be a “classic TV” list and a “currently on TV.” Or maybe even a comedy verses a drama break down. And really, there a lot more than 12 woman out there on television that are worthy of role model status.
However if I HAD to choose 12 fictional female characters from television who I think are worthy, this would be my top 12:

Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Veronica Mar (Veronica Mars)
Claire Huxtable  (The Cosby Show
Sydney Bristow (Alias)
Leslie Knope (Park and Rec)
Olivia Dunham (Fringe)
Mackenzie McHale (Newsroom)
River Song (Doctor Who)
Jessica Day (New Girl)
CJ Criag (West Wing)
Max Black (2 Broke Girls)
Starbuck/Kara (Battlestar Galactic.)

New Year update- So far I haven’t watched a single movie from the list. Nor have I practiced the Ukulele. I also have not read any books yet. 2014- 1, me- 0. (I have managed to stay away from new shows and stick to my current viewing list)

Golden Globes this weekend? I expect your next blog to be about that.

Sarah- She has the sword….WHAT it was really a portkey!

Following up on all the things - JE

Blacklist follow up with spoilers (not for you, but for those who don't watch):
He is totally her dad. I mean yes, he has a demonstrated ability to care about people (his team was obviously quite important to him), but nothing like his loyalty and commitment to her. I do like that we are questioning/debating what seemed so obvious in all the show promos. And her husband is totally evil. He's probably Alan Alda's minion.
And how are we feeling about Agent Ressler after 10 episodes? I mean, I know he isn't amazing, but he grew on me. And I'm pretty sure he's totally in love with Lizzie. And when her husband is revealed to be an evil secret spy, he is totally going to sweep in. Except Lizzie has way too much going on for that, she needs to focus on Lizzie, so he'll have to wait.

I like your resolutions. The no new show thing is probably a good idea. I caught the Almost Human pilot the other night (show with Bones from the new Star Trek and his android with feelings partner). It was pretty good and I am contemplating watching some more because that actor is coming to Emerald City Comicon. But then Downton is back Sunday and Teen Wolf is back Monday. And Sherlock on the 19th. And seriously, don't even tell me if you watch it. I'm having enough trouble with my damn tumblr feed. And I thought Revenge was off until March like OUAT, but it's back on Sunday. I need some winter hiatuses to catch up.
I have to get going on my Oscar prep. I pretty much need to see everything, but I'm thinking it probably won't happen until next weekend. And then it can't interfere with football. So many things!!

I am glad you got to watch Austenland. I loved that movie. Mostly because of Jennifer Coolidge, but also because the main guy who looks like Tom Hiddleston, but isn't, is very attractive. And Brett from Flight if the Concords is also adorable, although not so endearing. And I want to see About Time, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

And I think it's an okay list. I mean it's a decent spread of intelligence and physical strength among other traits. Plus it's got Abby, Buffy, Veronica & Starbuck, which is pretty solid. But I started to think about who was missed (Sydney Bristow, Kate Beckett, Dana Scully, Olivia Pope, Olivia Dunham, Claire Huxtable, CJ Craig, all other west Wing women, etc etc) and I decided that really the list is just too short. Should have at least 100.

And can we just talk about the Veronica Mars trailer? I cannot wait for March 14th. I just hope that Rob Thomas doesn't go all Serenity on us and kill off beloved characters. I mean, I think Serenity is great, but so many tears.

Thanks to that Nintendo game we had, Sarah knows exactly how to defeat Ursula.  So she rolls the appropriate number so she can flick her tail and capture other sea creatures in bubbles and throw them at the sea witch.  Of course, once you defeat her she comes back even larger.  And the only logical choice is to find a broken ship to steer into her.

The Blacklist and New Year Resolutions....KE

I am not skipping you’re turn without permission. You said it was okay because I had things to tell you about.

So when I originally started this blog I was going to tell you I started watching the Blacklist. I have since told you that and caught up to the current episode. It’s very Alias minus the JJ Abrams flair plus... James Spader (he needs to call me). It's fabulous...I just never know who to trust. And I have new thoughts and theories all the time…here are a few I thought I would share. (SPOILERS!)

-First- I feel I have to say that there is still a possibility that Red is Lizzie’s father…even though he told her he wasn’t. I don’t think he would tell her if he was. However, that being said, I don’t really think that he is (obviously I spend some time debating this with myself).
-Second- I think that Red had a daughter and something awful happened to her (as they keep pointing out). Then he went away and he could have done some sort of Dread Pirate Roberts thing with Lizzie’s real father (we know he was a criminal)… and Lizzie’s real father is dead but Red feels he needs to take care of Lizzie because her dad was his mentor.
-Third- Lizzie’s mom plays a part in this somehow. If I learned one thing from Alias is never count out the mother. We don’t really know the whole story with the fire- only flashes of Lizzie’s memories. Red could be connected to the mom somehow.
-Fourth I totally don’t trust her husband (no matter how cute). He's a Russian- probably.

Stay tuned for more thoughts on this.

On my way back from back to Abu Dhabi I watched only a few movies: Austenland and About Time. I enjoyed both. (I also started the Blacklist on the flight) I know you’re already seen Austenland and also enjoyed it. About Time is like a less intense version of Time Travelers Wife (which I’ve only read the book) and it’s more about the time traveler than his wife.

I came up with some New Year Resolutions for this year:
-To practice my Ukulele and get tour ready.
-Don’t start any new TV shows until my list is caught up on.
-Watch more movies from my “list” of academy award winning films (I started last year but didn’t get very far).
Read 25 books (I set this goal every year- in 2013 I got to 21 and half- thank you Game of Thrones)
Actually rank all HIMYM episodes once the show ends in March.

Also- I didn’t know this existed…my mind exploded.
Which leads to my next debate- do I wait to watch Sherlock at the same time you get in the States to watch it… or do I go on the internets and just dive in… by the time you read I may have already made a choice. But I promise no spoilers.

Sarah turns to page 43 and transfigures into a Shark. However, between her and the sword is Ursula, the sea witch. She'll have to roll the dice to get past Ursula!
